About Me.
Hi, I'm Israel. When I'm not coding or running, I love to play video games, watch anime, and cooking has become my new obsession. I live in San Antonio, TX, but I moved from Austin about a year ago and don't regret it. The city's people and culture have been my favorite part, and I'm in love with how much bigger a city San Antonio is.
I have 5 years of experience in the Software industry. I started university in 2017, where I was originally studying computer science, but found myself taking a Full Stack Developer Course just a couple of years later in 2019. At the time, "Bootcamps" and "Developer Certs" were very new. Not many people had taken them, not many people trusted them, but I found myself enjoying the much faster pace and hands-on experience the Bootcamp at UT Austin offered. I became a Teacher's Assistant for the Bootcamp after graduating because I believed the knowledge it provided was valuable to those wanting to pursue a career in software. After a year of TA'ing, I landed an internship with SolarWinds. There, I learned about UI/UX as I worked on many of their SaaS products that consumers used for network and application monitoring. The internship provided me with connections that ultimately led to my first full-time role as a software developer for Charles Schwab, one of the largest brokerage companies in the US today. At Schwab, I found myself as a Backend Developer, making tools for Schwab's business side to execute trades and get the best information the stock market has to offer.
I've been with Schwab for about four years now, and I appreciate the experience I have gained both financially and from a developer standpoint. As I branch out and look for new opportunities, I'm excited to see what new adventures and experiences I can make on my Software Developer journey.
